Do you have a Enfocus Switch workflow that looks like a circus tent or flying saucer due to so many options? Do you wonder if there might be a way to use variables or smart preflight to simplify things? Are you looking for a smarter way to build your Enfocus Switch workflow?
The XChange team can guide you in this process. We can take a look at your current workflow and assist you in making your workflows smarter.
Original Flow
Consider a flow that accepts jobs with names like this:
Preflight A.pdf, Preflight B.pdf, Preflight C.pdf, Preflight D.pdf, Preflight E.pdf
You could build a preflighting workflow that looks like this:
Jobs come in and we are routing them to the different Enfocus PitStop Server elements using filename filtering on the connectors. If the file name is “Preflight A”, then the file gets routed accordingly and preflighted by the PitStop Server Preflight A element.
In the example above, we are using five different Preflight Profiles. Here they are:
There’s a Much Smarter Way!
Now what if I could do everything we do above with this flow instead?
This is possible—and easy to do! You simply change the Preflight Profile names so that they match the name of the jobs.
Then you set up your Enfocus PitStop Server elements like this:
With this configuration, the jobs are preflighted with the Preflight Profile matching the name. Also note that the name of the Preflight Profile can come from other variables, like XML files or other metadata.
Of course, this is a very simple example, but if you’re struggling with something similar, you’ll quickly see the value.
Get Ready for growth!
If you would like to add more Preflight Profiles, it’s easy too. Just make sure to create the Preflight Profile first, name it according to the filenames coming in, and then the flow will still work. Even by setting up a simple flow like this, you’ll have created less maintenance and work for yourself further down the road.
