CoPrA M Package
CoPrA is your new control center for any output profiling task, such as creation, organization, validation and editing of high-end output and DeviceLink profiles.
CoPrA stands for “Color Profiling Application” and is a standalone application for Mac OS X and Windows platforms that combines:
- First-class ICC output profile generation.
- Creation of abstract profiles.
- ICC DeviceLink technology for RGB, CMYK, Grayscale, and MultiColor color spaces, as well as for switching between color spaces (e.g. RGB-2-CMYK DeviceLinks).
- The option of saving color transformations of any kind, e.g. selective or global corrections, in the form of a DeviceLink profile.
CoPrA offers top-class, professional quality in a program that is easy to use for color management pros and novices alike.

CoPrA stands for “Color Profiling Application” and combines first-class output profiling with the tried-and-tested DeviceLink technology developed by ColorLogic.
CoPrA covers RGB and Grayscale color spaces
CoPrA also covers the RGB and Grayscale color spaces. In addition, CoPrA is capable of creating output profiles based on the ICC standard that impress even critical users. CoPrA offers outstanding results – both for experienced color management specialists and for novices who would prefer to rely on predefined settings.
Clearly structured user interface
As soon as you start the application, you’ll see that extraordinary technology doesn’t have to be extraordinarily complicated – quite the opposite. You have a choice of three fields of application: creation of a new DeviceLink profile, editing of an existing DeviceLink profile, or calculation of an output profile based on the ICC standard. Once you’ve decided, a click on the appropriate icon automatically takes you to the corresponding window, where you can make the required settings.
The advantages of presets in CoPrA
The settings are a special feature of CoPrA, and you can save and re-use or edit them at any time. That not only avoids the often tiresome setting of individual options, but also guarantees more reliable production. Once you’ve achieved the required profile quality and results with certain settings, you can retrieve these settings time after time to create new profiles based on new measurement data – even if you’re not a color management expert.
Additionally, a number of standard settings are available immediately after installation for output profiling and when creating CMYK-2-CMYK DeviceLink profiles.
Of course, you can also create and save as many settings of your own as you like. The host of setting options available caters to every requirement. The additional rendering intents, in particular, help the user to achieve the very best quality. The different modes for handling the black channel permit specific control of the separation characteristics. These options are complemented by the numerous possibilities for defining exceptions.
The ToolBox offers helpful and intuitive tools for different purposes. Apply device profiles and DeviceLink profiles on images with the Image Conversion. Organize, analyze and optimize profiles easily by using the ProfileManager. Monitor the creation of several profiles at once with the Batch Overview. Additional software like ColorAnt and UPPCT makes CoPrA the most comprehensive and high-end tool for the professional user.
CoPrA will convert PSD, TIFF and JPEG files with the help of ICC device profiles and DeviceLink profiles. This function is very useful for checking the profile quality on the basis of images since typical application programs often do not support all types of DeviceLink or multicolor profiles.
The Profile Manager allows the user to directly view, organize, analyze, compare or even adapt profiles after creation within the CoPrA environment. It is possible to change the channel name of multicolor profiles according to the desired channel name or verify and check the quality of a profile. This is done by using a profile report. Additionally you can smooth the look up tables of your profiles.
Batch profiling functions are incorporated in CoPrA allowing power users to create several profiles at once. Batch profiling provides many advantages such as being able to prepare multiple profiles while others are already in the process of being calculated. All the profiles to be calculated are displayed in the Batch Overview and are processed one after the other.
Measure test charts with UPPCT
The Printer Profiling module also provides the option of directly measuring test charts for profile creation. You can choose to measure and save them exclusively via external measuring software and then import them into CoPrA as well. This is made possible by creation of a link to the UPPCT software of the Swiss Center of Competence for Media and Printing Technology Ugra.

Prior to creating printer profiles based on measurement data, ColorLogic recommends checking and optimizing the measurement data to get the best possible profile quality. ColorAnt is included as part of the CoPrA M, L, XL and XXL packages making CoPrA a comprehensive and high-end tool for the professional user.
Creating DeviceLink profiles by editing
Another highlight in CoPrA is the possibility of creating DeviceLink profiles by editing. These profiles can, for example, then be used in automated fashion in a workflow application that supports DeviceLink profiles (e.g. ZePrA).
You just open one of the Edit Charts that come with CoPrA (for CMYK, RGB, LAB or Grayscale) in your favorite image editing program and make all the color corrections you require. You can even add other image data, if you like. The only thing you have to bear in mind is that the corrections are applied globally to the whole Edit Chart. Based on this editing, CoPrA then calculates a new DeviceLink profile. This powerful function can be put to a wide variety of uses: you can perform recurring color corrections on different sets of image data, prepare RGB data for four-color printing, or simply fine-tune an existing DeviceLink profile. The possibilities offered by the Edit module are boundless.
Saving ink – Stabilizing the printing process
Printers, in particular, will probably be very interested in the “SaveInk” function offered by CoPrA. By optimizing the black composition of the data, this function makes it possible to reduce the amount of cyan, magenta and yellow used – without any loss of quality, of course. And you can even choose the extent of ink reduction. Applying this function to a moderate degree enhances the stability of the printing process. Needless to say, the “SaveInk” function can likewise be combined with all the other options in CoPrA.
CoPrA will produce high quality profiles in just a few clicks with simple, easy to use tools. CoPrA can create printer, DeviceLink and SaveInk profiles with Multicolor options for typical day-to-day color management challenges. With CoPrA, color profile creation is easy. To get started in generating ICC profiles, DeviceLink profiles, editing of existing DeviceLink profiles or SaveInk profiles, simply click on the icon and CoPrA will walk you through the steps to create high quality profiles for production.
CoPrA will profile the following color spaces: Gray, RGB, CMY, CMYK or Multicolor. Some CoPrA advanced options for profile creation include the ability to adapt a profile to viewing conditions, compensate for optical brightener and the ability to set a highlight starting point. The different modes for controlling the black channel permits specific control of the separation characteristics.
The Update Profiles feature allows creation of a printer profile based on a few color measurements. This can be generated from using the color patches from the special color control strips along with the reference profile. This feature works for CMYK and Multicolor systems which helps with generation of high-quality ICC profiles for print production.
CoPrA can create DeviceLink profiles for all combinations of color spaces: Gray, RGB, CMYK, Multicolor. The most important applications are CMYK-to-CMYK, RGB-to-CMYK and CMYK-to-Multicolor.
One of the most powerful features of CoPrA is creating DeviceLink profiles with the DeviceLink Editing module. Simply open one of the supplied CoPrA Edit Charts (for CMYK, RGB or Grayscale) that are installed with CoPrA in an image editing program which have the tools to apply (e.g. Adobe Photoshop) the color corrections required.
By optimizing the black composition of the data, SaveInk DeviceLink profiles make it possible to reduce the amount of cyan, magenta and yellow used – without any loss of quality and to control the amount of TAC (total area coverage) reduction. Applying this function to a moderate degree enhances the stability of the printing process, while use of a stronger level saves even more ink.
Existing device link profiles with a new source or target profile can be automatically recalculated. CoPrA uses the same settings that were used in the original Device Link Profile and exchanges it automatically, depending on the position as a source or target profile a new current profile.
The Image Conversion tool gives the user the ability to convert PSD, TIFF and JPEG files with the help of ICC device profiles and DeviceLink profiles. This function is very useful for checking the profile quality on images, since typical application programs often do not support all types of DeviceLink (i.e. RGB to CMYK) or multicolor profiles.
The unique ability of the Profile Manager to display all types of profiles, (including DeviceLink and Multicolor Profiles) is a powerful tool for everyday color management. Profile Manager includes 5 different tabs (General, Curves, Gamut, Colorants, Workflow) and you can verify and check the quality of a profile by means of a profile report.
